Stuffs

I'd wager that at least 80% of my life revolves around Jimbo. I have abdicated my throne and Queen Justine is almost perfectly contented to be Jim's mom. It's not that I don't think of myself as an individual; I know I have my own identity. Besides being a toddler's equivalent of a cruise ship activity director, I'm also a singer, a bookworm, and the most fearsome trivial pursuit player you will ever behold--at least in the entertainment and presidential history categories. I'm still the crazy, dramatic, hilarious, smart aleck I always was, but now I have a full-time audience of one. I am amazed that he wants to spend so much time with me. This adorable, hysterical, aggravating, exhausting man-child wants nothing more than to hang with this old lady all day long. Sometimes it can be draining, but I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. I am madly in love with this boy. He has a smile that will melt your heart and a laugh that makes me forgive even his most obnoxious behavior. I am actually terrified of the day when he won't want me to read Giraffes Can't Dance fifteen times in a row. It's an amazing read. What can I say? Love is weird.

So without further ado, this is news in the life of Jim and me, but mostly Jim.

  • Jim knows almost the entire alphabet
  • Jim can count to three and then skips right to eight. He's not messing around.
  • Jim can eat an entire Costco hot dog by himself.
  • Jim thinks that butternut squash is cheese and I don't correct him.
  • Jim describes his favorite foods as "Licious"
  • Jim laughs hysterically whenever he toots in the bathtub.
  • Jim bites mom at least five times a day. We're working on this.
  • Jim is mesmerized by all things Sesame Street. In particular Count von Count, Ernie, and of course Elmo.
  • Jim adores his cousins, Adella and Marshall and loves to play with them every week.
  • Jim says "Read this" when he wants a book read. Working on adding please to that request.
  • Jim loses his mind when daddy comes home. He is the ultimate household celebrity.
  • Jim knows some of his colors. Every object is either yellow or purple.
  • Jim's favorite book of the moment is Zach at the Dentist. He thinks the hippopotamus is an elephant. He's crazy about elephants. Honorable mentions include Down by the Cool of the Pool, Old Hat New Hat, Why Babies Do That, and The House that Jack Built.
